Medic Mentor

Refund Policy

Refunds and Cancellation

For all refunds and cancellation, we must receive your request to cancel in writing to admin@medicmentor.org

Phonecalls and leaving voice messages, texts or slack messages does not confirm a cancellation.  This must be received in writing only as explained above.

If we are unable to provide a direct refund, we will do our best to switch you to another event that equates to the amount that you have spent. We do not want students to miss out on valuable information. Please try to notify us in advance if you are unable to attend. In the unlikely event of unpredictable weather conditions, or low numbers of attendees, and the event has been cancelled, all tickets will be refunded in full. However, we cannot refund any travel expenses incurred due to unpredictable factors beyond our control, resulting in the cancellation of an event.

We are always more than happy to issue refunds, provided your request falls within the clear guidelines of the cancellation and refund policy outlined here.

Conference Places

Get into Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Medicine course tickets can be refunded in full if we receive the cancellation request in writing to admin@medicmentor.org within 3 days of registering a place via the website. Any cancellations which occur after 3 days of booking a place, will not be refunded. You must notify us of your cancellation by emailing admin@medicmentor.org

Summer School Places

Summer School deposits are non-refundable beyond the 14 day cooling off period when registering. Following this, students must notify us of their wish to cancel at least 6 months prior to their start date. Cancellations that fall within the 6 month period of their start date cannot be refunded. Expenses will have already been used to pay for food and accommodation as well as provisions including books and teaching. It will also be too late for us to offer the place to another student.

If Medic Mentor cancels the summer school as a result of COVID restrictions being in place, we will be offering students a chance to switch to a virtual programme.  This ran successfully for students last summer and they have all done very well in terms of obtaining offers so far.  However, if you do not wish to switch to the virtual summer school programme, you can request a full refund.  If you are unable to attend the Summer School as a result of local restrictions or any travel issues that personally prevent you from attending, you are liable for the full cost of the place that you have registered for.  Medic Mentor cannot offer a refund in such circumstances because we have been holding a place for you that could have been offered to another student.  This includes, for example, if the UK Government decide to prevent international students from arriving in the UK.  This is beyond Medic Mentor’s control and therefore, we cannot take responsibility.

Awards Programme Registrations

Students registering for the awards programme have a 14 day cooling off period during which time you may change your mind about pursuing a medical/dental/veterinary career or participating in the awards programme itself as outlined on the website.  Following this, if you decide to withdraw form the programme, a refund will not be provided.  This is because you will have already accessed the service, e-learning and incurred administration costs in the set up of your place on the awards register and slack channels.

Magazine Subscriptions

These can be cancelled at any time.  Please cancel your direct debit and also send an email through to admin@medicmentor.org requesting that you subscription be terminated.  Thank you.

What is the Medical Leadership Programme?

The School Ambassador Programme is open to secondary school students in all years. It is the only national medical leadership programme for aspiring doctors, dentists and vets.  The programme provides students with 3 additional teaching days (1 Sunday per term) to help students develop important transferable skills and knowledge that will best prepare them for their future careers.  It also gives students extra opportunities to work with a variety of doctors, vets and dentists throughout the year.  This ensures that we can provide you with ongoing face-to-face mentoring to help you start thinking and acting like medical students in time for your interviews in Year 13 and S6.

Applying for Funded Places

There are 2 ways to enter the Medical Leadership Programme.  You can apply for a funded place as a School Ambassador, or enrol onto the Medic Mentor Residential Summer School for the maximum level of support.

Medic Mentor provide 6 funded places per school (3 for year 10-12/S3-S5 and 3 for year 13/S6).  These School Ambassador positions are awarded based on a competitive application from individual students. There is no deadline for the application, but as soon as we receive a sufficient number of high quality applications to fulfil the places at your school, applications for students at your school will close.  The online application form can be found at the link below.
