Reapplication to Dentistry

What is reapplication?

If you are unsuccessful at applying for Dental school on your first attempt through UCAS  (specifically, if you have been rejected from your 4 UCAS options), then you can access a variety of alternative options to secure a place at a dental school.

The additional routes are a means of ‘re-applying’ to dental school.  Most applicants who apply for the first time are unsuccessful – usually between 70-85% in previous years.  Most of these students give up, because they are unaware of the variety of options available to re-apply.

Gaining access to information on applying to dental school as a first-time applicant is hard enough; access to advice and guidance on all of the re-application routes is even more difficult.

However,  if you decide to explore the re-application process, you will discover a huge range of additional routes that means you are twice as likely to obtain an offer to study dentistry on your second attempt!  If you still want to be a dentist, we are here to support you on your re-application journey.

When does the re-application process start?

Re-application starts as soon as you have been rejected from all 4 of your dental schools.  That means that you do not have to wait until the next academic year to re-apply.

There are several options that you can explore even before the end of your current academic year, and if you are successful in these, you could find yourself starting dental school this September, just like everyone else who applied successfully on their first attempt.

Examples of these routes include, UCAS Extra, Clearing, applying to the Republic of Ireland or an accredited European Dental School.

We will explain all of these routes in detail at the Get into Dentistry Re-application conference to help you make an informed decision about which route is best for you.  Try to attend as early as possible so that you can take full advantage of some of these opportunities, which you can apply through right now!

Who should attend the Re-application conference?

This conference is great for students in 13/S6/Northern Irish 14 year groups and older, provided that you have been rejected from all 4 of your dental school choices once before through UCAS.

You can also attend if you are in your gap year right now, or studying a higher degree course at university and looking to pursue a postgraduate application to dental school.

Having a strong support network around you is invaluable, so although it is not compulsory for you to attend this conference with a parent or guardian, we encourage you to do so, because this will boost your chances of being accepted when re-applying.

Reapplication to Dentistry

If you didn’t get into dentistry the first time, don’t ever let you discourage you from applying again.

90% of all applicants to dentistry do not get in the first time, that includes many practicing dentists.

As a re-applicant, you have multiple options for getting into dental school. Many students take a gap year, others reapply within a few months through UCAS Extra and UCAS Clearing, you can even opt to study dentistry in Europe!

We have put together a free Get into Dentistry Reapplication Conference for all students determined to follow their dreams of getting into dentistry. We will show you the multiple ways you can reapply to medicine, including:

  • Accessing and following university feedback
  • Republic of Ireland Applications and HPAT
  • UCAS Extra and UCAS Clearing
  • Applying to study dentistry in Europe
  • Taking a gap year and reapplying through UCAS

We’re a community of dentists and dental students dedicated to equip you with the skills and resources to get into dentistry.
