International Summer School Frequently Asked Questions

What should I pack for Summer School?
We have made a Student Handbook offering advice on what to bring and what not to bring with you. You will receive all necessary information needed before arrival.

When can I arrive and depart?

MONDAY is your arrival day, and the following MONDAY is your departure day. So please ensure you plan your journey accordingly. No lessons are planned on those designated days.

Which airports can I arrive at and depart from?

Scotland: Glasgow and Edinburgh only

London: Heathrow and Gatwick only

Please contact us if you cannot find suitable flights for those two airports. We will ask you to complete our Airport Arrival & Departure form closer to your course start date, so we can make the necessary arrangements. Please get in touch with us if you are arriving by train.

Will I be able to access my bedroom immediately?

There is no standardised check-in time, so this would depend on the time of day of your arrival. We will endeavour to show you to your room as soon as possible.

Will I be sharing my bedroom with other students?

No, all accommodation is single sex en-suite (with a private bathroom).

How far is my accommodation from teaching facilities?

You will stay in a university campus residence located within a walking distance from teaching facilities.

Can I enrol on the course without accommodation?

No, all students attending residential Summer School will be staying on campus.

Is there a bedroom damage deposit?

No. When you arrive you will be asked to check your room and report any issues/damages via an online form, so we can inform the host institution.

Students are liable and will be charged for damages such as graffiti, damage to room appliances, loss of key or additional cleaning costs as a result of messiness. The cost of damages in common areas will be charged to relevant groups of students unless an individual accepts responsibility.
