How to become a campaigner

I’m Koby and am proud to be one of the year 13 Medic Mentor school ambassadors. As an aspiring medic, I’ve volunteered to campaign for the Hardship Fund mission as I believe it is an amazing initiative to provide healthcare workers with the critical emotional and financial support required at such a difficult time. I feel it’s the least we can do to appreciate the tireless effort and risk our healthcare professionals endure each and every day!

So far I’ve tried to make a difference by volunteering to be a campaigner as well donating £50 to the hardship fund. On top of this, with social media having such a large influence, we can really make a big difference through this. The Medic Mentor page on Facebook is incredibly informative on how to successfully campaign. I’ve used this advice to write a status message and a story on Facebook with a link to the Medic Mentor hardship fund page as well as a short message explaining why I am campaigning and why it’s such a great cause! Moreover, I have mentioned the hardship fund to as many friends and family as possible (whilst maintaining social distancing of course!) and directed them to the Instagram page which has just been started up called: “covid19mission”.  Please do check it out and pass it on to as many of your friends and family as possible as it will make a huge difference!

Currently, I’m looking to carry on campaigning in a safe manner online through any groups I’m involved in as well as contacting my school and seeing whether they would be willing to publicise this in the school newsletter. As well as this, I’m thinking of running some online activities with as many friends as possible with any funds going towards the charity. Don’t limit yourselves though, there are plenty of different ways to help and if you have any ideas we are all ears and you’ll be supported throughout!

If you’re reading this and haven’t done so yet, please do consider volunteering to campaign and thinking about donating as together, if we spread awareness of this cause, it could really ease the pressure on our healthcare workers! Don’t worry if you think you won’t be able to make much of a difference, as the saying goes, “every little helps” and there’s a massive team of campaigners who are there to support you every step of the way!
