Leadership Scholar

The Leadership Scholar will be responsible for the Medic Mentor Insight into Veterinary Medicine events held as part of the National Weekend Programme. The events are aimed at applying students and designed to shed light on life as a vet student and vet. Events are held in London and Scotland, three times a year. The Leadership Scholar will coordinate the event including designing the lecture programme, recruiting speakers and creating delegate packs.

-This role will develop leadership, teamwork, communication, crisis management, succession planning, innovation and problem solving.
-Previous conference experience desirable.
-They will be supported by a VP and the President of Medic Mentor.
-This scholarship comes with a £500 bursary.

 

UCAS and Vet Schools Compendium Scholar

The UCAS scholar will be responsible for creating content for the Medic Mentor Making it into Veterinary course and the Vet Schools Compendium book for students applying to study veterinary medicine. Both the course and accompanying book aim to give students all the information about the UCAS process, the rules and regulations of applying and support in choosing their universities.
-They will be supported by the Vet Medi.
-This scholarship comes with a £750 bursary.

Interviews Scholar

 The interviews scholar will be responsible for creating the Medic Mentor Veterinary Medicine Interview Skills workbook aimed at students applying to study veterinary medicine. The scholar will also be responsible for creating mock interview questions and mark schemes for our interview events.
-This role will develop communication, writing and editorial skills.
-They will be supported by the Vet Medi
-This scholarship comes with a £500 bursary.

Personal Statement Scholar

The personal statement scholar will be responsible for creating the Medic Mentor Veterinary Medicine Personal Statement Toolkit book. Aimed at applying students, the personal statement toolkit is designed to help guide applying students from first draft to finished statement.
-They will be supported by the Vet Medi.
-This scholarship comes with a £500 bursary.

I'm not available for all the training and event dates, can I still apply?

Unfortunately, not, attendance at the training dates is compulsory. However, there are other opportunities for you get involved in Medic Mentor and national weekend events. Create a free online account at medicmentor.co.uk, check out the regional mentor roles and look out for the ‘upcoming opportunities” emails sent by the communications team.

I'm not available for all the training and event dates, can I still apply?

Yes, all students will need a successful audition to join the presenter development programme and receive the scholarship.

I'm a Doctor/Vet/Dentist/Psychologist, can I apply?

The presenter development programme and scholarships are designed for our student members. However, there are many opportunities available for our doctors, dentists, vets and psychologists, create an online account at medicmentor.co.uk and check out the medi and regional mentor roles and look out for the ‘upcoming opportunities” emails sent by the communications team.

How many scholarships are available?

There are 44 presenter scholarships available in total for 2017/8.
15 for medical students
15 for dentistry students
12 for veterinary students
2 for psychology students
