Medic Mentor Approved Courses cater for students from year 10 or S3 upwards. They are designed to ensure that students receive high quality information about applying to nationwide courses for medicine, dentistry and veterinary degrees.
Can the Events be Used for the Awards?
Yes! All of the Medic Mentor Approved Activities (which includes the list of courses below) can be used to fulfil the Awards Categories.
When is the best time to attend?
Students who start early have a head start. That is why we encourage students from year 10 or S3 upwards to attend courses so that they can get access to information early and start working on building their CVs and successfully applying for work experience.
The Summer Schools are only for students in year 12 and S6, however, you can register for them in advance, which we strongly recommend because they do fill up very quickly.
How useful are the courses?
The Department of Health have stated that careers advice across the UK is poor in schools. Some schools are more supportive than others. Applying to Medical, Dental and Veterinary University Courses are more challenging than most and require specialist input. The information that students gain by attending the courses is above and beyond what can be offered in schools alone.
"Get into" Conferences
Take the first step onto your chosen career path by attending the Get into Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary conferences. These full day conferences take place via Zoom throughout the year. This is an essential course for all aspiring doctors, vets and dentists.
Medical Leadership Programme
The School Ambassador Programme is the only medical leadership programme that exists for secondary school students. Students will act as leaders within their schools and develop essential skills and confidence.
The summer schools are a 6-day residential programme that comprehensively prepares students for their UCAS applications. Over 80% of Summer School students obtain at least 1 medical, dental or veterinary school offer.
